A media rep is a company which represents television stations for national advertising sales. With offices in major advertising centers around the country, we sell 30-second commercial inventory to national advertisers for stations in all sized markets and all affiliations. National reps are extensions of a station's local sales force and were created because individual stations do not have the resources to field such an extensive sales force outside their home market.
Selling television advertising is an exciting and challenging profession. There are many opportunities to sell specials and sports programming. The Olympics on NBC stations, the NCAA Final Four on CBS stations, Barbara Walters and the Academy Awards on ABC stations, the Superbowl - the list of possibilities is endless. There are local specials and events in each market as well. All of these opportunities can help an Account Executive garner a large share of an Agency's budget for their client advertiser.
Each Account Executive is responsible for a list of agencies that places television time for their client advertisers. Media buyers at these agencies request 'avails' or availability of inventory for specific markets, dayparts, and demographics. The Account Executive and the Media buyer negotiate with each other and with the Television Station to meet the Advertiser's goal.
